Common Surface Processing Methods of Natural Stone
Sawn-Cut:The raw block is cut by gang saw or wire saw.The surface is rough with obvious machine-cut textures.
Polished:The polishing treatment makes the surface smooth, glossy mirror effect. Limestone and travertine can also be polished.
Bush hammered:Workers use chisels to dig small holes densely on the surface of the stone, making the surface rough and uneven with anti-slip effect.
Flamed:The agglomerated surface is formed after the slab is burned by high-temperature gas. Only granite can be burned by fire.
Sandblasted:Workers use river sand or emery to scour the surface of the stone to form a decorative
surface with a smooth frosted effect.
Nature Split:Workers use hammer and other tools to naturally split a stone from the middle, the stone surface is extremely uneven.
Tumbled:stone tumbles in the machine and splits into two pieces. The surface and edge of the stone are smooth or slightly rough. Granite is the preferred material of choice for tumble treatments.
Grooved:Workers groove stone with a certain depth and width on the stone surface.
Mushroom:stone surface is manually chiselled, the effect is similar to the natural surface, with a protrusion in the middle and a concave plateau-like shape around it.
Honed:The surface of the stone is lightly polished, producing diffuse reflection and matte.
Rough Picked:The surface of the stone is processed to look like the peel of a pineapple. More uneven than bush hammered.
